START WITH A PLAN AND SET SMART SOCIAL MEDIA GOALS

Establish what you want to achieve through your social channels and make Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely goals. For example, an easy SMART goal to start with could be: post at least one form of high-quality content on your social channels each week for three months.

RESEARCH AND KNOW YOUR COMPETITION

Researching your competitor’s activity online can be very helpful, particularly when you’re starting out. If you’re unsure of where to start, this can be an important step for finding out what works and what doesn’t work in your category – a little inspiration can go a long way in spurring on your creativity.

” Plan your posts months in advance so when it comes time to post, you already know what your posting for that day/week. This will save you so much time and effort and will ensure you meet your goals without the stress of coming up with ideas on the spot every time you need to post.”

CREATE A SOCIAL MEDIA CALENDAR

Constantly coming up with ideas for content is a time-consuming process and one that requires dedication. We know small business owners are time-poor, so make it easier for yourself and plan your content in a social media calendar. Plan your posts months in advance so when it comes time to post, you already know what your posting for that day/week. This will save you so much time and effort and will ensure you meet your goals without the stress of coming up with ideas on the spot every time you need to post.

KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

This one is a bit of a no-brainer, but it is incredibly important to know your audience and post content that you know they will respond to. Knowing your audience plays a huge role in setting up your content marketing efforts for success and is essential for posting content that will support them through the purchase cycle.

FOCUS ON CREATING QUALITY CONTENT OVER QUANTITY

As a small business, you don’t need to post five or six times a day like some other businesses, particularly if you have a small following. Curating high-quality content is much more effective at building your brand’s social media presence over posting multiple times a day.
